The Way My Savior Leads Me
In our devotions recently we
had the privilege of reading the story behind this beautiful hymn by
Fanny Crosby. Colossians 1:9 says ...that you may be filled with
the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Fanny
shares about a time when she didn’t have enough money to pay her
rent. Just as she had finished praying about the situation a stranger
appeared at the door and pressed a ten-dollar bill in her hand before
disappearing. It was the very amount needed. If Fanny were alive today
she would continue to tell of her Savior’s leadership.
As this issue
of the monthly newsletter comes out we also are reminded of our Savior’s
leading. August 15th is an important date for us. On
this date 34 years ago we were married in Portsmouth, Virginia. We can
also testify of the Lord’s leading for these past years. Never has He
failed us.
In July
1968 the Lord saved Tom. Then in August of 1970 Beth
was saved. We found ourselves at Bob Jones University in the fall of
1971. At this same time, the Lord called Tom to preach. The years
that followed produced pastoring, three wonderful sons, three beautiful
daughter-in-laws, three precious granddaughters, (two grandsons on the
way), and 13 years in Evangelism. Oh, the stories we could tell of God’s
leadership and provision during these years.
Proverbs
3:5-6 has always been our life verse. There were times when we would
lean on our own understanding and would have to suffer the consequences.
But we are so thankful for the years of ‘trusting in the Lord’
and know for sure that He had directed our steps.
We continue to
praise the Lord for those that God has led across our path. We have met
some choice servants as we travel from church to church. We can sing
with the songwriter “All The Way My Savior Leads Me.”
All the way my
Savior leads me; What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy, Who thro’ life has been my guide?
Heav’n-ly peace, divinest comfort, Here by faith in Him to dwell!
For I know, what-e’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well;
For I know, what-e’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well!
Thank you so
much for your continued prayer and support of this ministry.
Until next month,

Evangelist Tom Gilliam |
