Let us return
in our study to Psalm 33, which I have entitled The Praise Of
Jehovah. This Psalm praises Him as the creator and controller
of all things. We looked last time at The Command Of Worship.
Let us look at
verses 4-9 this week and The Creator Of Worship. Our text
says, For
the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the
goodness of the LORD. By the word of the LORD were the heavens made;
and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth
the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in
storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the
inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it
was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
In verses 4-5 we
have The Words Of The Creator. I cannot put too much
emphasis upon His word. The Bible tells us He put His word above
His name. We are told in verse 4 that His word is right
and leads to the works of truth. We are raising a
generation today who have no moral compass in their life because the
word of God is seen as unimportant. Let us not be surprised when
sin abounds and all our human programs of moral change fail one
after another. We are told in verse 5a our God
loveth
righteousness
(Right standing before Him) and
judgment:
(Discernment that causes right decisions).
There can be no
righteousness and judgment without the word of the Lord. Let us as
parents and grandparents purpose to bring our children under a
saturation of a high dew point of the Word of our God. Our God
intensely loves the practice of right living. We are told in verse
5b that the earth is full of His goodness. Everything He does is
good. Even what seems to be bad He will cause to turn out for our
good. God writes with a pen that never blots, speaks with a
tongue that never slips, and acts with a hand which never fails.

In verse 6-7 we see
The Works Of The Creator. We are told that the heavens
were spoken into existence by just a word from our God. He said
let there be and it was! I recently read some material about our
universe that blew my mind. Astronomers say that we are living in
an expanding universe. This means all the galaxies are traveling at
unbelievable speeds away from the earth. Some are traveling one
hundred million miles per hour. The further these galaxies get from
the earth the faster they travel. Some are now at a distance beyond
our understanding. They have been photographed at 15 billion light
years away. One light year is equal to a trillion years. Oh, to
think the earth is but less than a particle of dust in this vast
universe that found its existence by a mere word from God. If that
was not enough He sent His Son to this particle of dust to redeem a
people who were nothing but dust from their sins because He had
loved them before time began.
In verse 6 we have
the mention of the LORD who is the Father, the WORD
who is the Son, and the BREATHE who is the Spirit. The
triune Godhead in one voice of unity speaks the entire world into
its existence.
In verse 7 His Word
brought all the waters together and caused the dry land to appear.
He has so much stored up in the depths of His treasure. There is
hail, snow, rain, wind, and all the things needed for this worlds
well being.
In verses 8-9 we
find, The World Of The Creator. We are told to fear
the LORD. The word means to hold in a place of high regard and
reverence. The word awe has the idea of having the mouth
open while scratching the head. In verse 9 we see just how powerful
is His word over this world. He spoke and it was done. He speaks
and all of creation stands fast. Let us be reminded that this Old
Black Book is the Words of the Creator of all things in the heavens,
the earth, and under the earth. How can we do less than praise Him?
