Simeon
Let us draw today from Luke 2:25-26 which says, And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. O what a gold mine of truth! I see here in his name a nugget. It means one who has an ear to hear. We have heard it said they have a real ear for music, well Simeon had ear for God. There is a truth in his walk. He was just and devout in his walk. If you saw Simeon you had seen Jesus. I see a truth in his waiting. He had been waiting for years for the Messiah to come. Providence arranged for him to be at the temple when He came. Waiting always has its rewards. There is also the truth of a witness. This man had the Holy Ghost upon him, and the Spirit showed him things no one else saw. There was also the truth of a word. He was told by the Spirit he wouldn’t die before he saw Christ. It would be wonderful to know we would see the Lord without having to go by the way of the grave.
