Let us ponder Jeremiah 17:5-8 today.  The central verse says, “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the Lord is.”  In verse 5 we find the transgression of hope when we put our trust in a man.  Jeremiah says this man is cursed.  In verse 7 we find the trust of hope.  We are told this will be a blessed man which means a joy and happiness not based on outward circumstances.  I see in our text the tree of hope.  Verse 8 tells us that if we put our hope (confident expectations) in the Lord we will be like a tree that never ceases from yielding fruit.  I find here the tense of hope in the phrase ‘hope the LORD in’.  We must have a constant hope in Him. LORD, let my hope be in you.
