Elijah’s Trust Under a Bush

Let us muse today upon I Kings 19. This is the great story of Elijah running from Jezebel. In this story we find Elijah saw some things. Jezebel sent word to him she was going to cut him up the next day. In verse three the Bible does not say he heard it but saw it. How often fear will cause us to see things that are true instead of trusting what we know to be true. He ran along way off and got under a juniper bush. The word juniper means depressed or cast down. This is the state one finds themselves in  when we do not trust in the Lord fully. It is here Elijah heard some things. The Lord supplied all His needs. There was a still small voice that gave him direction. The directions were hard. He was to anoint Elisha in his place. We see in our text, verse 19 Elijah did some things. He went and did  as the Lord said. The song says it best, ” Trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey”.
