Waiting With Admonishment

Let us begin to ponder today I Thessalonians 5:1-7 where we begin to see Paul’s last thoughts of Admonishment while we wait for our King.  In the first 7 verses we have an admonishment about our darkness.  In these verses we find an admonishment of comparison.  In verse 1 there is a comparison of times and seasons. Let us be careful of the changing of moral, spiritual, and political seasons.  Watch for the changing times of Israel. In verses 2,4,5, and 7 there is a comparison of day, night, and light and dark.  Oh, church, be alert.  Don’t let the dark overtake us and destroy our spiritual day. Satan has come so mystically slow.  We may even now be over taken and not know it.  Look up. Look to the Light.  In verse 2 and 4 there is an admonishment of coming. We are told that Christ our King will come like a thief in the night. A thief comes without warning. He comes for the rarest jewels and those things that we can put no price on in the house. In verse 3 there is an admonishment of confusion. Everyone at that time will say that everything is at peace and it is then that there will be sudden destruction. It will be in such an hour as ye think not. In verses 5-7 there is an admonishment of conversation. Conversation speaks of our walk and not our talk. Let us walk in the light. Don’t slumber and sleep while drunk on the world but be on guard and watch. You may say ‘Why should I walk like this’? Our text says ‘ lest you be overtaken with the dark and our King come and catch us unaware’.
