Hallowed Enablement
Let us continue today to muse through Romans 8. If we are to become like Christ it will take a Hallowed Enablement. In verse 1a we find this Hallowed Enablement will involve a walk of freedom. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ…” The promise is given to them. In John 17 the night before Christ died He said, “I pray not for the world but for them which thou gavest me.” He said in John 10 that He was the good shepherd who gave His life for His sheep. His mother called Him Jesus because He would save His people from their sin. I am glad I am one of them. The text is a promise for now. This is the unending perpetual present tense. The word ‘no’ is a double negative, no, no, not anyway, cannot be condemned. We are told in our position there is no condemnation. This is the sentence of judgment, wrath, and Hell. I will never ‘In Christ’ hear the words, ‘Depart from me’ but only the words ‘Come unto me’. The only way this freedom is granted is because the sin debt has been paid and I have freedom from sin’s penalty
