Walk Of The Flesh

As we muse again today from Romans 8 our theme is still Possessing Our Position.  In verses 1-8 we have looked at an Hallowed Enablement.  Today this enablement leads us to look at our walk of the flesh.  I find in verse 3a, at best our flesh walk is a weak walk.  Self control, will power, rededication, self discipline, positive mental attitude, turn over a new leaf, and resolutions will profit nothing in the control of flesh. Paul tells us that the law cannot control flesh. Flesh cannot control flesh. The natural man cannot subdue the natural man. We find this walk at best is a wayward walk. In verse 5a we find that flesh only leads to more flesh. Paul says that those that live of the flesh only mind the things of the flesh. Paul tells us in verse 7 that our flesh is at enmity with God. The word means ‘at war with’. In verse 8 we are told that flesh cannot please God. Isaiah 64:6 says, ‘All our righteousness (which is nothing but works of the flesh) are as filthy rags in His sight.
