The Perception Of The Prisoner
Let us continue to muse through Philippians 1:19-26 today. I have titled this section the perception of the prisoner. In verse 19 I find the prayer of perception. Things are not always the way they seem, but prayer allows us to see them as God sees them. I see first there is the establishment of his certainty. The phrase for I know speaks volumes about Paul’s certainty. This speaks of an absolute knowledge. Prayer does not change situation, but it will change how you perceive it. I see in Paul’s prayer the establishment of his comfort. He said it had turned to his salvation. There are two Greek words used for salvation. One means to deliver and the other is the one who delivers. Paul uses the word for Christ our deliverer. It was through this perception Paul was given a supply of the Holy Spirit. Prayer may not change my situation, but it will give me the comfort of the presence of the Spirit of Christ.
