The Prospect Of Perception
We continue to muse today from Philippians 1:25-26. This section has dealt with Paul’s perception in the prison. A news man years ago would close his program with the words “and that is the way it is”. May I remind us that things are never the way they seem, when view from God’s perception. Today let us view the prospect of perception. In verse 25 I see the prospect of furtherance. Paul says in our text that God has given him the confidence that it will best for him to stay in this world. The word confidence means evidence of a total reliance upon another. Paul’s confidence assures him that his remaining will lead to their furtherance and joy of faith. These words give the idea of making progress in ones resting sweetly in Jesus’ control. I see in verse 26 the prospect of fellowship. Paul’s desire was to get together with the folks at Philippi and rejoice together in Christ. We will not struggle when shut up to unwelcome situations when see they are helping others to make progress in their walk with the Lord.
