The Ordinances Of Performance

Let us muse today from Philippians 2:16, were we have been  looking at the performance of the pattern of Christ in unwelcome situation. Today we will ponder the ordinances of performance. In 16a I find the word of the ordinance. If we are going to conform to Christ the pattern, we are told there must be a holding forth of the word of life. The phrase holding forth means to retain, to give great heed to, to mark out, and stay upon. I can not call us strongly enough to be people of the word. There must be a  personal time and family time of taking in and giving out of the word. I see in 16b the worth of the ordinance. We will rejoice which means to make a loud boast at the appearing of Christ that we have run well and finished our course. It can only be done in the word looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
