Paul’s Burden For False Brethren
In verses 18-19 we muse on another principle in an unwelcomed situation. Paul has a burden for false brethren. He speaks of those who are enemies of the cross. Oh, how many have rejected His cross and death for them. Paul mentions them weeping. He does not weep because of them but for them. Oh, how we need a burden for God’s enemies. They are controlled by the sensual earthly desires in verse 19. Paul says their end will be devastation. The word means a continual death of destruction. One will continually be on the edge of death but never dies. My, how we need to weep over the erring one.
