The Contentment Of His Person
Let us muse today from Philippians 4:11a. It is in this section that we are met with the thanksgiving principle. We are set free from prisons while still in prison when we develope an attitude of thanks be unto our Lord. In this verse I find Paul is thankful for the contentment of His person. It is totally against out natural man to be content. I find here a contentment of want. Paul says I come to your folks at Philippi not to speak of my want. This word was only used one other time in Mark 12:44 when the widow cast in the offering of her want. She gave literally until she had nothing and was in want. Paul says I am not come to poor mouth. George Mueller, the great missionary of orphanages, never told anyone but God of his wants. I fear much of our pray meetings is telling each other of our needs hoping someone will supply them. Let us not dishonor God by telling anyone but Him of our dire needs.
