Sowing By The Wayside

Let us muse today from Matthew 13:4 & 19. This section deals with sowing seed by the wayside. The wayside was the walk area for traffic going in and out of the field. The sower sowed seed even in this area. This has been called by some a person dull of hearing. My question here is, ‘What led to the failure of the seed not taking root by the wayside?’ Luke speaks of this area that they heard the word but had no understanding. The understanding speaks of revelation. Luke 24 says, “Then opened He their understanding…” It was said of Lydia that the Lord opened her heart. The seed failed because there was no revelation. In Mark 4 the seed when sown by the wayside was taken away by the Devil immediately because they had no ears to hear. This tells us that there was no regeneration. When a person is quickened God gives them ears to hear. Luke 8 tells us the seed by the wayside was trodden underfoot. We find here that there was no respect for the Word of God. No revelation, no regeneration, and no respect tells us there has been no work of God and there will be no fruit. It is all of God and none of man.
