The Founding Of The Ephesus’ Church
Let us begin to muse on the first church addressed in Revelation 2 and that is the church at Ephesus. This church was planted by Paul during a brief visit there. It was nurtured along by Priscilla and Aquila, a husband and wife who loved the gospel. It was later led by a very eloquent Bible expositor by the name of Apollos. (Acts 18:19-28)Paul later returned here for an entended three year stay where he taught this young congregation many things. He warns them about wolves that would come in to devour the sheep. (Acts 20:29-30) He encouraged them in a letter written to them to keep the unity of the faith in their congregation. (Ephesians 4:13-14) This church almost without exception maintains those things it was taught in its founding days. A good foundation often assures a church of a good future.
