The Setting Of The Ephesus’ Church

Let us muse today on the place where Paul planted this great church. Ephesus was a major sea port town which had a population of about a third of a million people. It was known for its Temple of Artemis which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. A sea port town is always know for a love of sin, lustful pleasures, and high crime rates. I  doubt Ephesus was any different. The Temple of Artemis was known for luring people into sexual immorality and idolatrous feasts. Why would God plant a church here? God always goes to sinners. They said of Him in Luke 15 that He received sinners and even eats with them. How wonderful to know we have a God who saves old sinners.
