First Love Departure

Let us muse from Revelation 2, verses 4 and 5 today where we find another of our Lord’s admonitions to the Church at Ephesus. It is here He rebukes them for leaving their first love. I have found two interpretations of this verse. One, is their departure from their first days of falling in love with Christ our Saviour. The other interpretation is their falling away from sharing love for one another. I feel both of these go together and you will not have one without the other. All sacrificial love has it’s roots in our love for Him. He warns us to go back to where we lost this love, repent, and do our first works. If not, He says He will come and turn out our light. His light is our discernment for walking with Him and our effectiveness in testifying of Him. Let us seek to love Him more even in this hour.
