The One Who Knows It All

Let us muse today on the Church at Smyrna in Revelation 2:9. The first thing to catch my eye is the phrase ‘I know’. The one who claimed to be the first and last, and the one who was dead and is now alive says ‘I know’. I am glad we have a Savior that knows all about our situations. The songwriter said, ‘I know He cares, O yes He cares, His heart is touched with my grief’. It seems this church is undergoing great works of tribulation and poverty. These are words used to describe spiritual persecution. These attacks were coming from the Jews of which Jesus did not refer to as His people but are of the synagogue of Satan. This persecution left the Church at Smyrna economically at a poverty level. I rejoice in the message from our Lord left in parenthesis to this church. He told them ‘but thou art rich’. It matters not the state this world may leave you in. Just rest assured that your state in Him is the exact opposite of your state in this world.
