Are You Hot, Cold, or Lukewarm?

Let us muse today from Revelation 3:15-16 and the church at Laodicea. I am amazed at how God masterfully uses illustrations. Laodicea had no water system of their own. The water was brought in by aqueductics from nearby Hierapolis. By the time it reached them it was neither hot nor cold but lukewarm and full of sediment. Cold water is good for drinking. Hot water is good for healing but lukewarm water full of sediment is good for nothing. It is disgusting. Our Lord describes the church at Laodicea as well as the church of our day as being lukewarm. If I could take our spiritual temperature today and ten was hot while one was cold, where would you fall on that scale? Well preacher, I am not a one, a flat lost person, but I wouldn’t be a hypocrit and say that I am a ten. I am probably in the middle, a four, five, or six. Oh, you must be lukewarm. Our Lord said, ‘I will spew thee out of my mouth’.
