Jacob’s Staff Defined

Let us continue to muse from Hebrews 11:21 and Jacob’s Staff. We find in this text some things declared about his staff. The great truth is that the leaning upon this staff is totally a faith walk. When we walk by faith we must stand on the uncertain and walk into the unknown. I see also the staff of Jacob defined. This was the shepherd’s crook which is a picture of the Holy Ghost. It was used to rescue the lamb from rushing water or briar patches. It was often laid gently on the back of a nervous little lamb. Oh, how strong ties with the Holy Ghost helps in this faith walk. Years ago a black nanny for a school vice president met with the family in the morning altar time. When asked to pray she always prayed, ‘Lord, prop up brother Faulkner on the leaning side today’.
