The Principle Of Amount In Trials
Let us muse again today from James 1:2 and our Encounter With Trials on the road to God’s Blessings. Let us see on this road there will be the Principle Of The Amount In Trials. James uses the word diverse which means multiple, abundant, varied in kind, heavy in weight, and much in amount. There is a saying that is used many times to explain this area and it is, ‘God will not put more on you than you can bear’. The statement cannot be supported by the Bible nor our experience. Paul in II Corinthians 1:8 told us the trouble that came to him in Asia left him pressed out of measure which is to be flattened. Paul said that it was above strength which means he couldn’t carry it. Paul despaired even of life which means he wished he was dead. Sounds like God put more upon him than he could bear but we would ask why? In verse 9 Paul said, ‘that I might not trust in myself but in God who raiseth the dead’. Our daughter-in-law when first hearing the news of her cancer sought to find her husband but could not. During that time God broke in and told her that she must learn to trust Him and not her husband. Oh, how God uses trials to get our undivided attention.
