He Looks But Sees Nothing

Let us muse today from James 1;24 and our Encounter With Truth on our road to God’s Blessings. I see in this verse a warning about our Looking Into The Word But Seeing Nothing. I want us to look at the phrase ‘he straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was’. The word ‘forgetteth‘ means a look that has caused one to lose clear sight of the thing looked at. A casual look into the Word of God changes nothing. I heard recently of an example used to illustrate how often we look but see nothing. A speaker asked his audience to look at their watch and tell him what kind of numbers were on the watch. Hash marks, Roman Numerals, Digital, or regular numbers. He took a hand survey of which kind each had. Then he said, without looking back can you tell me exactly what time it is. Most could not. They looked but had not seen.
