He Hears But Does Not Act

Let us muse today from James 1:24 and our Encounter With Truth on our road to God’s Blessings. I see in verse 24 there is a ‘Warning About Hearing The Word But Does Not Act‘. Let us look at the phrase ‘he beholdeth himself and goeth his way’. The Rich Young Ruler came to the right person (Jesus). He asked the right question (what must I do to be saved?). The Lord gave him the right answer but he gave the wrong response (he went away). All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone to his own way. The story is told of a young man, 23 years old, who spent 13 of the 23 years in prison. His excuse for the life of crime was that his parents crammed the Bible down his throat. He said that everytime he messed up they made him write Psalm 121, 100 times. “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. The Lord shall perserve thy going out and thy coming in, even forever more.” The young man saw, heard, but did not act.
