Christ-Like Religion Is Helpful
Let us begin today to muse from James 1:27 and a proper Encounter with our Testimony on the road to God’s Blessings. In our text we find that Christ-Like Religion is marked by one who is helpful. We are told that those of pure religion will visit the fatherless and widows. The word ‘visit’ has the idea of bringing help. We are to do this in their time of affliction, which is distress or suffering brought on by the pressures of life. We must seek to help others to reduce the pressure they find themselves in. Sometime ago a black lady was in front of me in the Wal-Mart line. She realized that she had bought more then she had money to pay for. She began to take some things back. I could remember days when I had to do the same. I told the cashier to put them on my bill and in her bag. When the lady looked at me, ‘I said, God has been so good to me. She said, Lord, you know him too. She said, Come here and let me hug you.’ There in the Wal-Mart line we were hugging, dancing, and crying about Him. That to me is pure religion at its best
