An Astonishing Encounter With Forgiveness
Let us muse today from Psalm 130:3-4 on the subject of an Encounter With Forgiveness. I see in these verses that it is ‘An Astonishing Encounter’. David said, ‘if you mark iniquities, who can stand?’ The word ‘mark’ means to look at narrowly and to fix in the mind. The word ‘stand’ means to be in the presence of or to dwell with forever. The Psalmist says in verse 4 that with God there is forgiveness. The word means to act as if it never happened or to wipe the slate clean of all past, present, and future sins. In verse 4 the act of forgiveness will cause one to fear. The word ‘fear’ means to stand astonished in reverential awe. Let us today stand amazed in the presence of Jesus our Saviour who has washed away all our sins with His precious blood.
