A Wounded Spirit

Let us muse today from Genesis 40:14-15,23, and 41:1a and the subject of A Wounded Spirit. How do we know that Joseph had a wounded spirit? In our text we see the first time that he complains to another about being in prison. He said that he was placed there wrongly and guilty of nothing. Joseph was put in prison at 17 and is now 30. He has been in prison for 13 years. The wound is now festering and coming to the surface in the fact that he has asked the butler to remember him when he gets out. Joseph is depending upon the arm of the flesh. The text tells us that the butler forgot him for two full years. Let us not depend upon the arm of the flesh for the healing of our wounded spirit. Jeremiah told us not to put any confidence in the arm of the flesh. Trusting in the arm of the flesh cost Joseph an extra two years in prison.
