A Criticizing Declaration

Let us muse from Matthew 7:1 where we find a Criticizing Declaration about forgiveness. In this verse our Lord admonishes us about a judging spirit. He says, ‘judge not lest ye be judged.’ The word ‘judge’ means to mentally decide. Let us be careful in going from a mental decision to the ordained punishment for doing wrong. Let us remember that we can judge what people do, but not why they do it. We cannot judge the motives of people. We can judge what people say, but not why they said it. We cannot judge one’s intentions. But be assured our God doth judge both the motives and the intentions of our hearts.
