The Omnipotence Of Decreasing

Let us muse today from I Samuel 24:5-6 and the Omnipotence Of Decreasing. We find in verse 5 ‘The Omnipotence Of Sensitivity’. When David cut off the bottom of Saul’s robe his heart was struck by the Holy Ghost. The word ‘strike’ means to hit a death-blow to self. There must be a death to self if we are to decrease and take the high road of forgiveness. There was once a man in church who continually prayed the phrase, ‘O Lord, remove the cobwebs of sin from my life’. It became a phrase that he said in vain repetition. On one occasion when he said it a young lady cried out, ‘Don’t do it Lord. Kill the spider.’ We want only the cobwebs of sin dealt with in our lives but God wants to kill the spider of self.
