Thanks For Making Us

Let us muse today from Colossians 1:12 and Paul’s Thanks To God For Making Us. My, how often Paul’s prayers turn quickly to praise. The thanks is a sudden eruption of praise. We find three things which Paul gave thanks for in verses 12-14. In verse 12 there was thanks for God making us meet. The word ‘meet’ means to enable, to make efficient or qualified. In Adam we could not have any part in the things of God but in Christ we are joint heirs and will inherit all that He does. We are told that this inheritance is for the ‘saints of light’. Light here is absolute, perfect illumination. It is the total opposite of darkness. Saints means ‘set apart ones‘. In our Lord’s great work of making us He not only set us apart into the light of Himself, but gave us rights to all that He has.
