The Consistancy

Let us muse today from Colossians 1:17 and another of the five titles mentioned here for Christ. Today I find He is refered to as ‘The Consistancy’. Paul tells us in this text that ‘he is before all things’. The word ‘before’ gives us the idea of everything being in front of His face. It is the term of a director who is directing a well scripted play. Our God has written story line for each of us from beginning to end and then directs the carrying out of it to be acted out on the stage of life just as it was written. Notice this statement ‘is before all things’ is in the present tense. Paul also tells us ‘by Him all things consist’. The idea is to be held together. We have built with our tax dollars a six million dollar research center in Virginia to study atoms and matter. The great question they study at this center is ‘What holds it all together?’ What is the binding force that makes everything cohere? There have been no definite answers. We as Christians do not know what but we sure know who holds it all together.
