The Pre-eminence Of First

Let us muse today from Colossians 1:18b-c-19 where we find some of the purposes that God has said for His Son to be. One thing Paul says is that ‘He Is The Beginning’. The phrase means the origin of life from nothing. When man began the creation of life in test tubes many said ‘we no longer need God, we have created life for ourself’. A Pastor remarked, ‘let them come and talk to me when they can create life from nothing’. Paul said, ‘God purposed for Him to be the first-born from the dead’. All that were raised before Jesus died in a physical body and were raised in a physical body to die again. He was buried in a physical body but raised in a spiritual body to die no more. Paul said that He must have the pre-eminence. He stands as the one who is uncontested, highest in rank, and everything under His feet. Some often testify that they have given Him first place. He has never wanted first place but because He is the pre-eminent one He demands all the places in my life.
