The Pleasure Of The Father
Let us muse today from Colossians 1:19 where we find ‘The Pleasure Of The Father’ displayed in the Son. The word ‘pleased’ means to bring one the highest delight. What brought the Father the highest delight and caused all the fullness of Him to dwell in Christ? The word ‘fullness’ means the sum total of all the divine power and attributes. Paul uses this Greek word eight times in this book. Paul tells us that this fullness of the Father dwells in Christ. The word ‘dwell’ is more than our word reside. It was not something added to His being but it was His because it was a permanent, essential part of His constitution. This fullness makes it very clear that the Father and the Son were one in the same person. No wonder the Father found such pleasure in Him. How can we do less than find pleasure in the fact that the one who redeemed us is the God-man. He is all God and all man.
