The Sins In Good Standing

Let us begin today to muse from Colossians 3:8-9 and the sins in good standing. Paul has dealt with the sesusal sins of the flesh that cause great alarm when we hear of them in the church. He now looks at the social sins that do not alarm us when we find them present and accounted for in our live. The text tells us that we as God’s people are commanded to put them off. The phrase is used of one who is changing his clothes. The clothes he is to change is the grave clothes of the old life and put on the new man of Christ. When Christ arose he left the grave clothes behind. When Lazarus arose, Christ said to those around him, loose him and let him go. The process of taking off the old and living in the new is a lifelong project. Let us not get behind even for a moment.
