God Is Holy

Let muse today from Hosea 2: 2-13 where we find Gomer, Hosea’s wife  is dealt with. It is in these verses we find that God is holy. The name Gomer means a complete failure. Oh, how we are complete failures without Jesus our Hosea. In the text God shows his Holiness by confronting Gomer and we the people of God with three sins. In 2:5 she is accused of idolatry when she claims that all her provision came from her loves. Let us be careful of putting anything above God as our source of provision. In verses 2:5-9 there is the sin of being unthankful. Instead of thanking God for her privation she looked to the gods of this world. The Lord says in verse nine I will come and take all back that I have given you. In 2:10-13 we see the sin of being a hypocrite. All the things her lovers gave her God will destroy leaving her an embarrassed hypocrite. The God who is holy is not the God to be taken lightly for sure.
