THE Silly Dove Metaphor
Let us muse today from Hosea 7:11-14 and the silly dove metaphor. God sees Israel as a silly dove making alliance first with Egypt and then with Assyria. They are always seeking the help of others. In verse 14a God says they never cry unto me. Because of their foolish desire to seek help from all but the Lord, He leaves them on their own bed howling in anguish. Let us as God’s people be able to say with the Psalmist my heart is fixed on Thee O Lord, for I am trusting in Thee.
