Joel And The Day Of The Lord

Let us begin today to muse from the prophet Joel. He is known as the first of the writing prophets. He preached to the southern kingdom where Joash was the King. The theme of his book is the phrase the day of the Lord. It appears five times in this book. We find the phrase in 1:5, 2:1, 11, 31, and 3: 14. The day of the Lord in the Bible most often speaks of God’s day of judgment. I noticed the phrase  is mentioned five time which is our number for grace. When God’s judgment comes upon the unrighteous it will be as grace to the righteous. His theme of the day of the Lord covers three areas in time that we will look at and they are a present day, a purposeful day, and a promised day. His prophecies deal with the day he lived in and through and including the day we live in,even till the end of time.
