Musing Through Matthew-Request To Be Baptized

Let us muse today from Matthew 3:12 and the theme of Jesus the King. In our text we find  Jesus request to be baptized. In His baptism it is going to be done as a public profession of who He is the King of Kings. Let His baptism be an admonition to all of us to use it as an audience to make a public profession of what we have believed in for our salvation. We have believed the gospel. As we stand in the water we see His death. When we are placed under the water we see His burial and when we come up out of the water we picture His resurrection. What a profession, what a picture, may all who believe follow Him into the waters of death to self. Please remember that His baptism was not a confession of salvation but a confession of the Sovereign who was to die for the sins of His people.
