Musing through Matthew- First Display Of Power

Let us muse again today from Matthew 8:2 and the theme of Jesus the King. It is in this text that we have Jesus’  first display of power. The verse begins with the word behold which means to look at closely and intently. The first one to come to Him is a leper. He comes offering Jesus worship and calling Him Lord. Oh how many today call Him Lord yet never bow in worship. If one calls Him Lord but does not worship Him he is more diseased than this leper. His request is not for healing but the request is Lord if thou wilt thou can  make me clean. He appeals to our Lord’s willingness and power. When we appeal in prayer to these two attributes of our Lord we often come away with a yes answer to our request.
