Musing Through Matthew- New Wine In Old Bottles

Let us muse  today from Matthew 9:17 and the theme of Jesus the King. In our text for today we find some thoughts on putting new wine in old bottles. John the Baptist followers were trying to hold on to the old testament tradition while trying to follow Jesus. Jesus refused to pour the new wine of the Holy Ghost into these old bottles of traditionalism. I fear many Baptist today are trying to live on the Old Testament side of the cross instead of the New Testament side were all is finished.. On this side of the cross man is judged by the state of his heart and not the style of his dress. Let us do as Augustine once said “love God with all your heart and then do as you please”.
