Musing Through Matthew – Spiritual And Fleshly Discernment
Let us muse again today from Matthew 16: 5 – 12 and the theme of Jesus The King. In our text today our Lord teaches a great Lesson on spiritual and fleshly discernmen. They are struck with a thought when they arrive on shore that they forgot to bring bread with them. Jesus says beware of the Levin of the Pharisees and Sadducees. They think because of their little faith and no discernment He speaks of earthly bread. The discernment of the Pharisees is a discernment from the eye of self righteousness, rules and standards. The Sadducees discern is from carnal reasoning. They don’t believe in anything spiritual like angels, spirits, and the resurrection. Both of these are alive and dwell in the church today. Spurgeon said these types of discernment will only bake sour bread. Beware!
