Musing from Matthew Offenses Live Within Us {Matthew 18:7-9}

Let us muse again today from Matthew 18: 7- 9 and the theme of Jesus The King. It is in the this text today we find this truth, The word offenses is the word used for a trigger trap that causes oneself or others to stumble. We must be reminded that this trap lives within us it is called our old nature. It will cause us to stumble as well as through our actions reactions can cause others to stumble as well. What can we do about it? Jesus tells us in our text we must get very rough with this trap. If the offenses come through the hand or foot what you do or where you go cut it off. If the offense comes through the eyes what you see pluck it out. Our Lord is asking us to become very seriously rough with those things in our life that cause us or others to stumble. Spurgeon said “it will be of no advantage to oneself in hell to have two eyes, two hands and two feet.” Let us be reminded that this is not the words of a caveman but the words of Jesus himself.
