Musong Through Matthew The Church’s Power {Matthew 18: 18-20}
Let us muse again today from Matthew 18: 18 – 20 and the theme of Jesus the King. It is in this study we have unveiled for us the church’s power. In verse 18 of our text we find the quest of the church’s power. If iis a true church, preaching the pure gospel, and upholding the doctrines of the Bible they have binding and loosening power. In the church’s quest to find if they should bind or lose our Lord receives the decision of this quest, that my friend is the power the church must not take lightly. Its authority is seen in the words “verily I say unto you”. We also see in verse 19 the church’s quantity of power. We’re told of the smallest of quantity even two or three gathered together. Do not underestimate a church body even if it is small in number. In verse 20 we find the quorum of the churches power Jesus is in the midst. It is a quorum that was established in the fact that all power rest in Christ. If He is in the midst then there is all power in the midst. We can be assured then if He is in the midst the business of God’s church can be transacted.
