Anticipated Practice
My how our musing on I Thessalonians has helped us to better wait on the King. Today let us think upon chapter 1:6-9. This section speaks of an anticipated practice. In verse seven we are told they were ensamples to all that believe. The word means a pattern or practice that all can do. What is involved in this practice? Paul says in verse six they became followers. They also became receivers. They even followed and received the word in much affliction. This was not a cake walk they were on. In verse eight we are told they were tellers in their practice. Even though there was great trouble they were sounding forth in every place the word of God. Oh while we wait for the King let us tell the old, old, story. We find in verse 9a they were turners. They turned from the things of this world. They were also servers, verse 9b says they severd the living and true God. Some would say I just don’t know what to do. Paul sure has laid out a practice in this text for us to do. AMEN
