The Passion Of The Prisoner

We are musing in the book of Philippians these days. Remember our theme from prison to a palace, from chains of conflict to chimes of comfort, and from cells to cathedral’sof praise. Let us muse these days from chapter 1:1-3. It is here we find the passion of the prisoner. In verse one I find some passionate titles. In verse 1a I find the title of servants. Paul from the prison does not use the title of apostle, but of servant. It is the term of one who is a table waiter, and cleans up the messes of others. The term is used 30 times in this books. This is the  only way to have real freedom in our prison is to take up the position of a servant. It is in this place we find from our text   grace and peace. Grace is God giving to us what we don’t deserve. Peace is channeled to us through the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Peace is God bringing two warring parties  together and making them one.  We also find titles of saints and stewards. Saints are the set apart ones. The stewards are the deacons and elders. This is a side issuse for study, but every time elder is used it is in the plural. My, My, Paul is not consumed with himself, but the people he is ministering to. Oh may we see these truths in our times of being shut up to the Lord.
