Paul’s Prison Prayer
We continue to muse today through Philippians1:11 and Paul’s prison experience. We have found that God turned his prison into a palace of praise. One of the great avenues He used was prayer. I see in verse 11a there is a prayer for anointing. He prays that they may be filled with the fruits of righteousness. We are told in I Cor. that Christ is made unto us righteousness. It is a status beyond salvation. It is a continual flooding of the soul with Christ and all that He is. In verse 11b there is a prayer for acknowledgement. Paul says it is all by Jesus Christ. The word by is the word of a channel or the source. All that Paul had and all that we have comes from Christ. In 11c we see a prayer for adoration. Paul says that all glory and praise be given to God. The word glory means to lift up an adore. The word praise is loud words of commendation. Surely Paul’s prison in a Roman Sewer has turned into a palace of praise. So too can mine if I but pray.
