And The Sower Went Forth To Sow

I feel our next musing assignment is to look at the parable of the sower. Let me look for a few days at laying the ground work for these great truths. I remind us today of the first great American sower of seed. He was a revivalist by the name of George Whitefield. He was a strong believer in the doctrines of Sovereign grace. He preached before the declaration of independence. God used him to sow seeds in the hearts of tens of thousands of people, which led to the first great awaking in America. Many were swept into the kingdom. Benjamin Franklin said of Whitefield he was amazed to see the change in people who seemed to be half beast and half devils. Sadly it was said by Franklin of the great sower of seeds Whitefield,” He prayed for my conversion, but never had the satisfaction of believing his prayers were answered. May the Lord put sowing in our hearts today. We sow but He must give the increase.
