Let us muse today from Revelation 2:6-7 and some final thoughts about the church in Ephesus. In these verses our Lord mentions some things this church hath. He says in verse 5 ‘they have a hatred for evil.’ The Nicolaitians were a religious sect of people mentioned by this church. The word is made up of two words, one which means to conquer and the other is the people. They were a religious sect that indulged in the appetite for fornication and food without moderation. Satan would use it to destroy the people. Our Lord said that He noticed the church at Ephesus hated them as He did. The word ‘hate’ means to detest and pursue with hatred. Oh, how our Lord detests error and evil. There was in verse 7 a ‘hearing ear’. The Spirit of God commences all faith by giving us an ear to hear what thus saith the Lord. In verse 7 I see a ‘hopeful expression’. If we overcome or persevere to the end which can only be done by the Spirit’s enablement we will partake of the Tree of Life in God’s city of Paradise which is to us our home town. My, when I think what we have, it brings me great delight.
