My Faithful Witness

Let us muse again today on the church at Pergamos from Revelation 2:13. Christ tells them that I know thy works. Let us be warned our Lord knows what we practice. He speaks of them dwelling where Satan has his throne in this world. It is their they  do work for our Lord. It is their place of work where Satan seems to have his greatest authority. Our Lord commends them for holding fast to His name. The word hold means to seize in order to get the power that goes with that which is seized. Oh, that name is so powerful, lay hold to it even where Satan dwells. Our Lord also sees their practice of work. He commends them that have not denied His name. The word denied means to act like someone you are not. My how Satan desires us not to act like Christ, but this church refused. He mentions one of their members  Anipas, as  the person of their work. We know only that he was called Christ faithful martyr. The word means to be a witness by pointing to the light. The root of the word means to point to the light with your life. This church seems to be lifting up the banner of the Lord even where Satan dwells.
