A Sweet Close To Pergamos
Let us muse on our Lord’s closing remarks to the church at Pergamos from Revelation 2:17. I always stand amazed at our Lord’s continual closing remarks of ‘He that hath ears, let him hear’. This phrase tells me several things. One, is not everyone has ears to hear the Lord. The second is that the Lord must give them to you. The third is, if you never hear Him you will never see the Kingdom of Heaven. There is also in this closing remark an admonition to persevere in the words of ‘to him that overcometh’. Salvation is not so much about eternal security as it is about the Holy Ghost persevering in and through us. To him that overcometh He will give them to eat of the hidden manna. This hidden manna is the bread of life or Christ Himself. There will also be given a new name written in a stone. The new name is a pet name given by Christ to His child. Oh, what a personal relationship we will have with Him even in that land. How it pulls on our hearts to press on and not get side tracked with this world.
