Jacob’s Security and Shrinkage
Let us muse today from Genesis 32:24-26 & 32 and ‘Jacob’s Struggle For Preservation’. In verse 26 during his wrestling match with the Angel of the Lord, Jacob finds security in clinging to this angel. There is no personal security except in our clinging to Christ. In verses 31-32 we find ‘personal shrinkage‘ in the fact of his hip being pulled out of joint causing him to limp the rest of his life. There was surely less now of Jacob and more of God. The only way to deal with self-preservation is for me to decrease while Christ is increasing. It will surely leave a definite mark of ownership on us.
